Inner Mongolia, China
Jade is working in partnership with both local coal resource owners and the government to design and build a demonstration underground coal gasification (UCG) and carbon capture and storage (CCS) project.
The pilot project will be completed in 2010/2011 and comercialistation is expected to commence in 2011/2012. The UCG process is being optimised to produce syngas as a feedstock for a local power station. Carbon dioxide will be captured from the power station and securely stored in the spent coal seams. |

Jade is working in partnership with a private coal company to design and build a UCG project that will yield commercial volumes of syngas.
A formal project plan, based upon Jade's feasibility study, has been submitted to the local mining office for approval. We expect to gain approval and commence the ground works for the pilot project in 2011.

India
India has huge resources of coal that generally have high ash and sulphur content which make it unsuitable for conventional coal fired power stations. Consequently, the country imports a significant volume of coal to blend with domestic coal for electricity generation.
Jade is working with a domestic coal producer to optimise the UCG process to work with domestic coal. The aim of the project is to keep the ash underground and scrub the sulphur from the syngas. Thus enabling the country to use more of its domestic coal to generate electricity and reduce imports. |

Africa
Jade has completed an initial UCG project feasibility study of a coal resource in Nigeria. A pilot project is being designed to demonstrate that syngas can be produced in commercial quantities to fuel a combined cycle power plant.
The electricity generated will help the country meet their growing need for power without reducing their valuable exports of oil and gas. |
