| Welcome Jade Clean Coal ("Jade" or "the Company") is developing a portfolio of exceptional clean coal projects that reduces greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide ("CO2") and other toxic sulphurous ("SOx") and nitrous ("NOx") emissions. Our UCG technology enables coaldependent countries such as China to decarbonise their coal industry and therefore assists them to meet both their energy security and climate change goals. |
Jade is developing a portfolo of clean coal projects in coal dependent countries including China and India. |

Clean Coal Technology Jade is commercialising Underground Coal Gasification ("UCG") technology. UCG is a process of extracting the energy value from coal without mining it – instead the coal is gasified in situ at high temperature and then extracted as a hydrogen and methane rich gas known as synthesis gas (“syngas”). Syngas can readily be converted into low-carbon electricity or synthetic diesel fuel. Or, through more complex chemical processing, can be converted into methanol, dimethyl ether (DME) or ammonia. |

Low-Carbon Electricity from Syngas Syngas can be used as a fuel for a combined cycle gas turbine ("CCGT") in a combined cycle power plant ("CCPP"). These modern power plants when fueled by syngas produce electricity with a 25% lower carbon footprint than conventional coal-fired power plants. Furthermore, steam reformation of the residual flue-gases can capture the remaining CO2 and make the process up to 80% more carbon efficient than conventional coal-combustion. |
UCG reduces coal's carbon footprint by ~20% when used with a CCGT ("combined cycle gas turbine") or up to 70% when integrated with CSS ("carbon capture and storage") |
|
Clean Liquid Fuels from Syngas Standard syngas from our UCG plants can be cleaned and compressed to form a clean-diesel that can be used in transportation fuel applications. Furthermore, Jade is designing and developing oxygen-rich UCG plants which are forecast to produce purer methane and hydrogen gases that can be used as a feedstock to produce methanol, dimethyl ether (“DME”) and ammonia. |
Synthetic fuels enable coal rich companies to meet their energy security goals
Emissions Reduction UCG is more energy efficient than conventional coal mining and coal-fired power plants so there is an immediate emissions reduction benefit in the order of 20%. This can be further enhanced by carbon capture and storage ("CCS"); through a steam reformation process the remaining carbon dioxide can be captured from the flue gases and stored underground. The properties of the underground cavities created by the UCG processes provide a secure long-term storage facility for the captured carbon dioxide. |
Jade is commercialising CCS ("Carbon Capture and Storage")
Business Model Jade is developing a portfolo of UCG projects and will profit from the sale of syngas to electricity producers and chemical plants: 1. Acquire strategic coal reserves that are suitable for UCG 2. Design and implement a UCG project 3. Manage UCG project to produce syngas 4. Profit from long-term off-take agreement selling syngas to electricity producers and chemical plants In the future, Jade will consider vertical integration of power plants and/or chemical plants and further profit from the sales of electricity and clean liquid fuels. |
